/PRZWT/On October 30th, Terminal 3 of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport was officially put into operation. As a provider of lighting solutions for the project, Foshan Lighting has been deeply involved in the overall lighting design and implementation of Terminal 3 with its professional lighting technology. It has illuminated the city with innovative technology and contributed to the high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
As a key construction project of China's civil aviation and Guangdong Province, the T3 terminal of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has a total construction area of approximately 420,000 square meters and a total investment of 53.77 billion yuan. It is a national key transportation hub project to implement the requirement of "building an airport cluster" in the "Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. The opening of Terminal 3 marks the official entry of Baiyun International Airport into a new era of "three floors and five runways". Its annual passenger throughput capacity is expected to exceed 120 million, making it a globally leading super-large aviation hub.
With light as the brush, paint a picture of light and shadow at the national gate
Facing the complex demands of Terminal 3 for "super-large space + intelligent management + cultural expression", the Foshan Lighting team was deeply involved in the project at the early stage. They integrated forward-looking light environment simulation and precise on-site data into the overall design, ensuring the scientificity and feasibility of the lighting plan from the source.
The team integrates the concepts of green energy conservation, smart humanism and efficient operation and maintenance, providing professional lighting solutions for all scenarios of T3 Terminal Building, including the main building, concourse, transportation center, boarding bridge, commercial area, canopy and VIP lounge, with over 130,000 sets of fully customized lamps. Meanwhile, based on the characteristics of different functional areas of the airport, the illuminance and anti-glare requirements are scientifically planned to help create an all-weather safe light environment and comprehensively enhance the visual comfort of passengers.
For high-space lighting, specially customized lamps not only have sufficient brightness and uniform illuminance, but also adopt adaptive honeycomb heat dissipation technology and secondary optical distribution, achieving an extremely long lifespan and excellent light attenuation control level.
From the roof sunshades shaped like rice ears in full bloom to the check-in island counter in the shape of blooming kapok flowers; From the cloud-patterned walls where light is visible but not the lamps, to the perfect blend of irregular-shaped lamps and the leaf-shaped dome - Foshan Lighting uses light as a medium to deeply integrate architectural aesthetics, functional requirements and the art of light and shadow, helping Terminal 3 become a "light and shadow business card" that showcases the image of Guangzhou City and conveys Lingnan culture.
Intelligent light control ensures the efficient operation of airports
Terminal 3 adopts a unique design that combines a centralized main building with a concourse layout. The light-transmitting roof echoes the distant mountains, and this architectural feature places higher demands on the lighting layout. Foshan Lighting has tailored an intelligent lighting environment system for it. The system supports various dynamic scenarios such as daily mode and festival mode for switching, and can also provide lighting changes that conform to the biological rhythms of the human body.
Through the DMX512 intelligent dimming system, the airport's energy consumption has been reduced by over 40%, with a response speed reaching the millisecond level. While ensuring uniform illuminance and controllable glare, it creates a richly layered, comfortable and pleasant visual environment.
Facing the installation challenges brought by complex structures such as arched ceilings, Foshan Lighting dispatched a professional team to provide on-site guidance. They used custom installation brackets for precise Angle calibration, transforming millimeter-level installation difficulties into an efficient and controllable construction process. The project team closely collaborated with the design and construction units, conducting multiple rounds of verification through advanced technologies such as BIM to ensure the precise implementation of the lighting plan.
"Made in China, illuminating the future of the Bay Area.
Previously, Terminal 3 won the buildingSMART openBIM International Award for its "Intelligent Construction Practice Based on openBIM". In this project, Foshan Lighting, as an important lighting supplier, provided high-quality lighting products and technical support for the terminal building, deeply integrating the concept of green energy conservation to help achieve a harmonious coexistence of light and buildings, as well as people and the environment.
For 67 years, Foshan Lighting has been deeply engaged in the lighting field. Centering on the strategic main line of upgrading to "mid-to-high-end intelligent manufacturing", it is accelerating its transformation into a "provider of products and overall solutions". From supporting major national projects such as the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge and the Huangmao Sea Cross-sea Passage, to lighting up benchmark projects along the Belt and Road Initiative like the De Chong International Airport in Cambodia, and now to assisting the T3 terminal of Baiyun International Airport, Foshan Lighting has always demonstrated the technological depth and brand influence of Chinese enterprises in the high-end lighting field to the world with its professional technology, ultimate craftsmanship and technological innovation.
In the future, Foshan Lighting will continue to adhere to the FAITH business philosophy, aiming to build a first-class leading lighting enterprise. It will actively participate in global landmark projects and major infrastructure construction, tell the world a new story of "Made in China", and write a new chapter in the lighting industry.
