/PRZWT/ In the first year of 2026, the new car market continues to heat up. As the first large six-seater flagship SUV jointly developed by Huawei Gan Kun and SAIC-GM-Wuling, Huajing S has been highly anticipated by the market and users since its official announcement. This model is also the culmination of the "three intelligence" (intelligent manufacturing, assisted driving, and intelligent cabin) strategic cooperation between the two parties.
On March 31st, Li Linchun, the vice president of Huawei's Intelligent Automotive Solution BU, and Lu Juncheng, the general manager of SAIC-GM-Wuling, appeared on a live broadcast to unveil for the first time the cooperation process and product considerations behind the birth of the Hua Ji S.
Huawei Gan Kun + SAIC-GM-Wuling: The mutual pursuit of the two "strivers"
One side is a leading technology enterprise in the industry, while the other is a traditional carmaker with cumulative sales exceeding 32 million units and a strong popular base among the people. The collaboration between Gan Kun of Huawei and SAIC-GM-Wuling is based on years of cooperative experience and a high degree of alignment in their concepts.
Chi Linchun introduced during the live broadcast that Huawei's cooperation with SAIC-GM-Wuling began relatively early. In 2018, a strategic cooperation agreement was signed, and in 2019, the Liuzhou Intelligent Connected Vehicle Demonstration Zone was established, and a new Baojun RC6 equipped with HUAWEI HiCar was launched. In 2025, the two parties further deepened their strategic cooperation and officially launched the Huajing S project.
When it comes to the cooperation between the two parties, Chi Linchun said: "The positioning of Huawei Gan Kun is to be the 'electronic screw' in the era of automotive intelligence, focusing on the professional field of components and helping car manufacturers build better vehicles. We hope to first achieve 'top and bottom' standards, and then achieve 'extensive coverage', so that more car manufacturers can use our intelligent components. We need to choose a partner with low-cost capabilities, and SAIC-GM-VLUND currently has over 32 million vehicles in stock, which is a huge market." He also pointed out that the SAIC-GM-VLUND team is very pragmatic, has strict quality control, and is a striving team, while Huawei also has a striving culture. "When the two striving entities work together, the cars produced will be more competitive and can meet the needs of the common people."
Lv Juncheng pointed out that in the competition of the new energy vehicle market, the first half is about electrification and the second half is about intelligence. "The car is the most important tool for ordinary people's families. When people need intelligent development, Wuling must meet their needs. Wuling and Huawei Kun are going to develop a car that is affordable and reliable for the common people to use."
Huawei Gan Kun Empowers, Creating a Safer and Smarter National 6-Seater Car
Data shows that the total sales volume of the mainstream brands' six-seater SUVs in the entire year of 2025 exceeded one million units, achieving a leapfrog growth compared to the 25,000 units in the beginning of the year. The industry has defined 2025 as the "first year of the explosion of large six-seater SUVs". As market enthusiasm rises, the competition in this sub-segment has entered a highly intense stage in 2026. Why Huajing S chose this market segment has become the focus of public attention.
Lv Juncheng stated that the principle of Wuling is "Whatever the people need, Wuling will produce it". Currently, the mode of transportation has undergone significant changes. "Multi-generational travel" has gradually become a necessity for Chinese families. People need a vehicle that can be shared by multiple generations, where six people can sit down together and all feel comfortable. "We chose the large six-seater SUV, not the track, but the pain point. Our starting point is to solve the pain points in people's travel."
Chi Linchun said, "Wuling understands the vehicle needs of Chinese families. Huawei Gan Kun has provided an intelligent solution to help it address these needs. The two parties will jointly produce a vehicle that meets the needs of the common people." According to him, the entire series of Huajing S is equipped with Huawei Gan Kun Intelligent Driving ADS 4, HarmonyOS Cockpit 5, Gan Kun Car Cloud, and it is also one of the first models to be equipped with Huawei Gan Kun In-Car Laser Vision System Limera.
When discussing the greatest advantages and cutting-edge technologies of Huajing S, Chi Linchun focused on the Huawei Gan Kun cabin laser vision system Limera. This product was first introduced by Huawei Gan Kun in the industry. It combines laser radar and cameras into one unit. Through its "one mirror with dual modes" optical architecture, it achieves physical-level integration of laser point cloud data and camera data with zero time difference. Compared to pure visual solutions, Limera is not affected by strong light, weak light, or glare, and can accurately identify obstacles 120 meters away and 35 cm in size. At the same time, it is deployed behind the front windshield, which is both aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean. "The beautiful design and excellent functions - these are a black technology we provide to SAIC-GM-Wuling."
Lv Juncheng stated that in order to achieve a perfect fit and fully leverage the advantages of Huawei Gan Kun products, and to provide users with a better intelligent experience, SAIC-GM-Wuling has upgraded and reformed its underlying electronic architecture, front windshields, tires and other components, as well as its R&D, manufacturing and quality systems. "All of our components have reached the highest level. We cannot let the development of components cause users to lose their requirements for driving experience."
In response to users' widespread anxiety about technological iteration and upgrading, Chi Linchun stated that the hardware installed in Huajing S is all at the current latest version. More importantly, regardless of whether it is equipped with new or old hardware, Huawei Gan Kun Intelligent Driving ADS can continuously upgrade through OTA, constantly adding new functions and optimizing the experience. From ADS 2 to ADS 4, there have been more than ten OTA upgrades in total, truly achieving constant improvement and better performance as usage increases.
From Cooperation to Co-creation: Huawei Gan Kun and SAIC-GM-Wuling's Next Step in Intelligentization
Huajing S is the first model of the Huajing brand, jointly developed by Huawei Gan Kun and SAIC-GM-Wuling. Regarding the future, Lu Juncheng stated that both parties will jointly promote the popularization of intelligence, enabling more people to experience the wonderful life brought by technology. At the same time, by learning from Huawei's design standards and systems, they will establish and lead systematic standards, promoting "Made in China" to "Smart Manufacturing", and expanding it to overseas markets.
Chi Linchun stated that in the future, the two parties will deepen their cooperation on more vehicle models, plan a wide range of vehicle series, and at the same time hope to explore joint design, joint manufacturing and joint marketing. He emphasized that safety is the bottom line and lifeline of Huawei's Kunming Intelligent Driving, and hopes that in the future, Huawei can empower SAIC-GM-Wuling in terms of quality and design, and jointly promote the upward development of the Chinese automotive industry.
At the end of the live broadcast, Lu Juncheng summarized the highlights of Huajing S with "five good points": intelligent, safe, spacious, drivable, and enjoyable. Chi Linchun then stated that Huajing S not only comes equipped with Huawei's Duan Kun intelligent driving system, but also has an excellent design. Describing this intelligent vehicle created for the common people with the words "intelligent" and "beautiful", it is both smart and attractive.
It is reported that Huajing S will hold a technical release conference in early April this year to present more technical details, and it will be officially launched in early May.
